ED opens competition to develop virtual, simulated CTE apps

By Emily Ann Brown, Education Daily® The Education Department recently launched its EdSim Challenge, a competition to award $680,000 in cash prizes to developers designing the “next-generation of educational simulations that strengthen career and technical skills.”

The EdSim Challenge marks the third time the agency pursued an “open innovation competition” concept to award grants relating to career and technical education. The department suggested that this method of grant-making may help “spur the development of computer-generated virtual and augmented reality educational experiences that combine existing and future technologies with skill-building content and assessment.” More…
